West York Borough's Watchdog

Our West York Borough Police Department works hard everyday to secure our neighborhoods from the effects of crime and violence. We have hired two new full- time police officers this year as well as several new part-time police officers.

Along comes a new generation of West York Borough Police cars. We are happy to add three new Dodge Chargers with a new design to our fleet of vehicles.

Above is the final 2008 design for the new West York Borough Police Car

West York Teams-Up with the York County Sherriff's Department Criminal Response Unit

If you see the Sherriff's Department out with a van full of prisoners, don't dispair.  They are here to help with different projects around West York as a cooperative effort with York County Sherriff's Department.  West York is the first municipality to participate and it has been quite a success.  They have cleaned up the railroad tracks that run from behind the Hess Gas Station to the end at Hoke Street.  They cleaned up the graffitti under the bridge at Highland Ave. , helped clean up Park Pavilions and there are many other projects to come.

Police Bike Patrol

Watch for our West York Police bike patrol. The West York Borough worked with local businesses to pull together funds to purchase the new bikes and equipment to make this patrol happen.

Working with the York County Sheriff's Department our officers were trained at no cost to the Borough.

Criminals have a new reason to be scared!!!!

Plain Clothes and Foot Patrols

West York Borough Police are also working on two other new patrols this year. One is the addition of plain-clothes officer patrol and the second is a walking foot patrol. These efforts have gone a long way in reducing crime throughout the Borough.
